ACCA Ukraine Awarded the Winners of Contest for Undergraduate Students
On 15 April, 2009 during the ACCA Ukraine Graduation Ceremony the winners of the First ACCA Contest for Undergraduate Students were awarded. The Contest was aimed at promotion of accountancy profession and talented youth involvement.
Nataliya Vovchuk, Head of ACCA Ukraine, Baltic & Caucasus States, said: “ACCA Ukraine conducted the respective campaign aimed at showing the Ukrainian youth the possibilities of getting the upscale financial qualification that will open the door for career in leading financial and audit companies. We intend to support talented youth in their self-realization in professional sphere.”
In the topic "Future of Accountancy Profession" the winners were:
1st place
Olexiy Guravov – 3rd year student of Kyiv National Trade-Economic University, marketing department
2nd place
Igor Sotnik - 5th year student of Kyiv National Economic University, financial market department
In the topic "Worldwide Economic Crisis Overcoming" the winners were:
1st place
Nadiya Savchenko - the 5th year student of Chernigiv State Technological University, Economics Department
2nd place
Olexandra Chernousova – the 3rd year student of University of Economic and Law of Khmelnitskiy city, Financial Department
The winners were granted free registration and one year subscription fee for ACCA Qualification and an opportunity to pass the ICFE exam free of charge. Moreover, the winners will undergo an internship in leading Ukrainian financial and auditing companies, ACCA Approved Employers, such as Baker Tilly Ukraine, Grant Thornton Ukraine and BDO Balance-Audit. The bookshop "Business Kniga" awarded the winners with the business books.
Olexiy Guravov: "Sooner or later the profession of accountant will be transformed into account-manager, account-analytic or even account-designer. This process has already begun so that now we have financial advisers and financial couches. I believe that human being will win this hard intellectual war against computers and our world will never lose its human face and brain."
Igor Sotnik: "The future of accounting I see in standardizing accounting standards around the world and keeping the board that accept these standards independent from government pressure or interest of big companies. The basis of these standards can be IFRS, which are already accepted in US but with the time lag, to give time companies to rebuild their accounting systems and for accountants to upgrade their qualification."
Nadiya Savchenko: "To overcome the economic crisis in the world every country must develop, every citizen must understand how it is important both for people who apply their knowledge and force in the development nowadays and for future generations. It is necessary to follow John Kennedi’s words: „Don’t ask what your Motherland can do for you, ask yourself what you can do for your Motherland.”
Olexandra Chernousova: "Only the group of like-minded people can change something. I think that the new generation can introduce such group. Everything changes and become more modern every year. And young people are interested in these innovations. They have fresh thoughts and they can change the situation, which worsen every day."
